Saving Penn Footpaths

The most important message we can send out to everyone with an interest, is simple:

If you use these footpaths, get in touch

We have put together a strong claim to record and preserve the pathways south of Witheridge lane, but nothing is unassailable.  We judge the paths to be rights of way; but those rights are fragile and currently held only in the minds and memories of those who walk along those paths.  If you use the paths and want to keep them, it is vital to say so, now. Quite simply, these footpaths may be preserved forever, or the rights may be extinguished and lost - forever.  So please, get in touch.

This site is exclusively dedicated to the current situation for us all in Beaconsfield, Penn and the surrounding areas.  We are only concerned with the recently closed pathways just south of Witheridge lane, so it's by no means a definitive guide to rights of way in the area,

We would like to sincerely thank everyone that has, through word of mouth and small WhatsApp groups; neighbours, friends and family, made this claim as strong as it currently stands.  This is a well founded claim as of now, yet there are hundreds of people who are still to provide their own statements.

If you'd like to know a bit more in general,  the Ramblers Association have a set of FAQ and some good practical legal information.  The link to the Open Spaces Society describes in some detail the process we're following to record the footpaths as public rights of way.  We'd also recommend the Open Spaces Society and the Chiltern Society in general - you'll find links to them all under the resources tab above.
